Such a lovely place to visit and I highly recommend going there. The grounds are lovely and the Community group there are just such lovely people who give you a large warmly welcome. Some interesting ideas and studying aspects we learned during the tour. The building has a facinating past which is worth finding out. Its so nice to see an old building and community group exist in this way supporting each other, rather than seeing the building converted to residential flats.

Breathtaking and often magical set of spaces nestled away in a hidden corner of rural Oxfordshire. You might never find this place if you were just an ordinary civilian studying in or visiting the town. They offer (or used to offer) residential volunteer programs for PhD/DPhil students. Unfortunately, I still can't recommend it. The people who actually work for the property and manage the volunteer program really suck - in that typical stuck-up, annoying, unnecessarily uncooperative, unfriendly, and unhelpful southern rural English way. It's a headache to deal with them and ruins the otherwise great vibes of this place. If it gets new ownership/management (possibly by someone not from this tiny area - or at least with a less unbelievably parochial mindset? :) ), I would go back...

Spent a few days visiting my girlfriend who was volunteering there and really had a great time. Great relaxing time and everyone was really welcoming. Different lifestyle which offers another view to an urban lifestyle like mine.

A quirky place for a wedding venue (2013), but thoroughly enjoyed the natural surroundings and historic building. The barn made a great dinning and dancing space in the evening. We chose to camp and were a little surprised by the rustic, outdoor eco-loo, but hey - we enjoyed the experience.

Lovely grounds! Difficult to secure a room during peak holiday season, but once in, its a treasure trove of things to see!
